Welsh Surgical Mentorship Scheme
Funded by RCS England's Grassroots in Surgery scheme
The Grassroots in Surgery (GiS) Scheme was established in 2022 to support initiatives which are seeking to make surgery a more diverse, equitable and inclusive profession.
The WSMS is one of nine national initiatives which has received funding via the inaugural round of GiS funding applications.
Overview
The WSMS is a near peer tiered mentorship programme aimed at prospective and current surgical trainees working and studying in Wales.
Vision
The WSMS aims to provide surgically minded trainees and medical students access to mentoring opportunities in a transparent and inclusive manner. The desired outcome is for professional and personal growth of participants and to foster a sense of community amongst surgical trainees.
